You can also read all four issues of my comic “Experience the Magic of the Legend!” there as well.

I recently completed Inktober and Drawlloween, producing an ink drawing a day from a list of Halloween themed subjects. You can see the complete set of 31 pictures in the following places:
– the Favourite Crayon Tumblr
– the Favourite Crayon deviantArt page
– the Favourite Crayon Facebook page

If you’d like one of the original cards (A7 aceo), then I’ll be giving one away if you buy two or more of my comics at Thought Bubble (Leeds, 14-15 November). There’s also still a handful of last year’s Inktober Monstergirls, plus a few Year of the Sheep watercolour experiments.

Due to forthcoming changes to EU VAT regulations, I will be suspending sales of the digital editions of my comics from 1st January 2015, for the foreseeable future. Until then you can purchase digital download copies of Experience the Magic of the Legend! Volumes 1 & 2, and Square Eyed Stories #25, from my store at Comicsy.

The digital editions are supplied as DRM-free PDFs, are suitable for tablets, and don’t require an active internet connection.

The print editions will continue to be available, and you can still read the strips on this website for free.

Experience the Magic of the Legend! Volume 2: Gamemaster’s Guide is now available in both print and digital editions. You can order online via Comicsy, or look for me at various comic conventions around the UK. While you can read all the strips on this very website, the digital edition is a drm-free PDF that doesn’t require an active internet connection. The print edition is also drm-free, doesn’t need batteries or internet, can be safely read in the bath, and you won’t shatter the screen if you drop it. It’s also a standalone expansion, and doesn’t require you to install Volume 1 in order to play.

Thought Bubble 2014

I’ll be at Thought Bubble on the 15-16th of November, in the TB TeePee; look for Square Eyed Stories on table 86 (that doughnut looking guy knows the score).

Assuming there are no alien invasions, meteor strikes or demonic apocalypses, I should have copies of Experience the Magic of the Legend! Volume 2 for sale. The first 31 people to buy EtMotL! #1 & #2 together can get one of my Inktober Monster Girl ACEOs bundled in. If you already have #1, bring proof of ownership and you can still qualify for this offer.

There are a couple of anthologies I contributed to which will be on sale this weekend. If you visit our neighbours Space Babe 113 on table 87, you can pick up a copy of The Newspaper Strip Collection of Oscar Charles Drayton. You can also find To End All Wars at Soaring Penguin, on table 120 in New Dock Hall.

Bring your jukebox money, and spend it on comics.

The Newspaper Strip Collection of Oscar Charles Drayton

The Newspaper Strip Collection of Oscar Charles Drayton

Oscar is an obsessive collector of the newspaper strips in the fictional Daily Inspector. As Oscar descends into a state of psychotic depression he becomes convinced that the strips mirror his life…

This is the most recent comic project I was involved with, a “found footage” facsimile scrapbook of newspaper strips, featuring the work of David Goodman, Andrew Cheverton & Tim Keable, John Maybury, Colin Stanford and myself, with Paul Rainey and Siobhan Hillman. This was a chance for me to work in a mid-’70s daily newspaper gag strip style, with the gags written by myself but fitting in with John Maybury’s overarcing story. (This is also why it’s been quiet on here for the last few months.)

If the idea of this project intrigues you, there’s an Oscar Charles Drayton page on Facebook for you to “Like”. If you’d like to own a copy, then keep an eye out at various UK comic conventions, or you can order it online via Angry Candy (price £7 inc P&P).

I’ll be at MCM Manchester, on the 20th July, behind the Square Eyed Stories table in the Comic Village.

I’ll be selling copies of Experience the Magic of the Legend! Volume 1, the collected edition of the titular strips*. You can read them all online for free, but the print edition is in HD, has no DRM, and doesn’t require an active internet connection.

I’ll be drawing Sketch Cards on the day (£5 each), as well as selling comics and prints. So bring your comic-buying money, and I’ll see you there.

*Unless tsunami/asteroids/kaiju/etc conspire to prevent the printer delivering them.

Future strip updates will become sporadic, as I prepare a new comic for printing; you should be able to “Experience the Magic of the Legend!” in collected form in about a month’s time. I’ll then be shifting my attention to <Project D3PG>, of which you’ll be able to find out more later this year. However, I’ll endeavour to have some new content up each week, so please continue to check back every Monday (or stick it in your RSS feed, so you don’t have to remember).

Finnegan, begin again.

So, I’ve redesigned my site and moved it to a WordPress/ComicPress Blog format. While this will make adding new content easier, all the pre-existing comic strips and illustrations have to be re-added all over again. While I could do this in one big chunk (ugh), I think it’d be better to put them back up one at a time. This will give me a chance to digitally re-master the digital files, and have a regular schedule. The current plan is to have archive strips go up every Monday and Friday, with new content making an appearance during the rest of the week.
For best results use the RSS feed, and I’ll see y’all again if you decide to stick around.
